Bidriware is a handicraft which is recognized as the symbol of Wealth. The term Bidriware originates from the township of Bidar as it’s a chief center for manufacture of the unique metal ware . Due to a striking inlay artwork Bidriware is also primal export handicraft. The metal utilized is a blackened alloy of Zinc and Copper inlaid with thin sheets of pure silver (99%) should be used . So, that it won’t get tarnished during oxidization . It is said that the soil of Bidar is quite unique. Some artisans feel that soil of Bidar is away from sunlight & rain for years and Therefore, It has a great oxidizing properties and the metal extract in the soil makes it more unique. The artisans also say that “ the real art lies in testing the mud which is necessary for making it’s article. Artisans taste it by their tongue and then decide whether to use it or not.” This knack is comes from experience is passed on to next generation.
